JOHNSON - WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Lorraine Crater Johnson passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 20, 1921 in Wilkes County, NC to the late Rufus Roy Crater and Fannie Gray Crater. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was involved with many charities and organizations. She was also an avid Wake Forest fan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, D. Frank Johnson; one brother, Roy Gray Crater; and one sister, Edith Crater Miller. She is survived by one brother, Jim Crater (Joann) of Elkin; three nieces, Ann M. Richardson (Don) of Matthews, Lorraine M. Golds (Russell) of Wilkesboro, and Donna C. Sallee (Brad) of Matthews; and one nephew, Mike Crater of Westerville, OH. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Brad Sallee and the Rev. Walker Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamptonville, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
