Lorene Martin Vass

Mrs. Lorene Martin Vass, age 89 of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Vass was born September 12, 1924 in Carroll County, VA to Delbert and Reba Lewis Martin. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall and a lifetime member in the International Bluegrass Museum in Owensboro, KY. In addition to her parents Mrs. Vass was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Clarence Vass. Mrs. Vass is survived by two daughters; Veda (Bobby) Mabe of Winston-Salem and Dawn (Ken) Cooke of King. Two grandchildren; Ben (Debbie) Mabe and Scarlett Parrish. Two Great-grandchildren; Brittany (Drew) Tucker and Patrick Mabe. Funeral services for Mrs. Vass will be held Wednesday evening, February 5, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Pastor Jon White. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday morning, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Gladesboro Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hillsville, VA The family would like to extend a special heartfelt Thank You to Nancy Sherbino for all the love and care given to Mrs. Vass.
