Mrs. Lorene Maggie Johnson Frye, 88, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Lorene was born on October 1, 1929, in Surry County to Charlie and Alma Eads Johnson. She attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and retired from AT&T with 18 years of service. Lorene was an excellent cook and adored her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Frye; three sisters, Ruth Poindexter, Ruby Hobson and Juanita Scott; and one brother, Richard Johnson. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Jack Frye; one son, Edward Frye; one granddaughter, Melissa Pozdniakov; one grandson, Matthew Frye; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah Frye, Isabella Pozdniakov, and Anastasia Pozdniakov, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, Saturday, September 17, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor James M. Brown and Dr. William "Billy" Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Komen Northwest NC Race for the Cure, 1106 Burke Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
