Lonnie Edward Fulp

Mr. Lonnie Edward Fulp, 78, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Clemmons Village Assisted Living Center. Mr. Fulp was born on October 1, 1936, in Forsyth County to the late John W. Fulp and Alice Southern Fulp. Lonnie attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Fulp retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 34 years of service. Lonnie volunteered with numerous organizations including the Republican Party and the Red Cross Disaster Team. He was appointed as the organizer of the United Way for R.J. Reynolds Archer Division during his employment with them. Lonnie especially enjoyed spending time fishing at the beach. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fulp was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Swaim Fulp; one sister, Bonnie Fulp; and a son-in-law, David Royal. Mr. Fulp is survived by three children, Penny Royal of Clemmons, NC, Gary Fulp of Winston-Salem, and Pam Blackburn (Glen) of Kernersville, NC; two grandsons, Justin Royal and Conley Wolfe; three sisters, Madalene Fulp, Pansy Gordy, and Susie Lawson, all of Winston-Salem; one brother, Roger Fulp of Winston-Salem; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 4, 2015, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Kay and the staff at Clemmons Village Assisted Living Center for the exceptional care that they provided for Mr. Fulp.
