Lois Bennett Wofford

CLEMMONS, NC-Mrs. Lois Bennett Wofford, 87, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. Mrs. Wofford was born on July 11, 1927 in Chatham County, NC to the late Clarence Edward Bennett and Lucy Bertie Reeves Bennett. Lois retired from Hanes Hosiery after 38 years of service. She was a member of Union Cross Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC. Lois enjoyed every aspect of life, especially the time she spent working in her garden and cooking meals for the people she loved. Lois had a million dollar smile that would light up any room she was in. She had a strong love for all her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wofford was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Shields; second husband, G.C. Wofford, Jr.; and one sister, Opal Landingham. Mrs. Wofford is survived by two daughters, Janet Redd (Jim) of Thomasville, NC and Susan Pegg Fairbairn (Fred) of Hendersonville, NC; three grandchildren, Dawn Howlett (Rob) of Wilmington, NC, Michelle Redd (Shawn) of Winston-Salem, and Travis Pegg of Kernersville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Lauren Howlett; two sisters, Vivian Darr of Thomasville, NC and Wilma McDaniel of Clemmons, NC; and one brother, Wade Bennett (Carolyn) of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Mark Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
