Lois Lynette Valetos Calhoun

Mrs. Lois Lynette Valetos Calhoun, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away on June 5, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Lois was born on October 20, 1930 in Forsyth County to Mr. Emmanuel ""Mike"" and Hilda Viditto Valetos. She was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church. They became missionaries with the Southern Baptist Mission Board. Lois went to missions in Singapore in 1963, Bangkok, Thailand from 1967 to 1970 and Guam from 1972 to 1989 and she retired in 1989. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her son Michael A. Calhoun; brother, Sonny Valetos; sister, Kathleen Hoffman. She is survived by her husband, John C. Calhoun, Jr. of Winston-Salem; sons, John C. Calhoun III of Winston-Salem, David L. Calhoun of Hawaii, Matthew C. Calhoun of Germany; sisters, Peggy V. Holder and Carolyn Weeks of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday June 8, 2016 at Konnoak Baptist Church with Rev. John Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. at the church.
