Lisa Renee Cecil

Miss Lisa Renee Cecil, 54, of Midway departed this life Monday, August 31 at Forsyth Medical Center; surrounded by her sister, sister in law, and 3 close ""sister-cousins"". She bravely fought a 30 yr. battle for her health with courage, grace and dignity; never losing her beautiful Spirit or smile. Born in Winston-Salem to James M. Cecil, Sr. and Peggy L. Cecil on February 24, 1961, Lisa was an active, inquisitive child by nature. She grew to love the legal system and justice, she received an Associates Degree at Rutledge Business College by working at Hanes as a teenager; and began her career in a law firm in Downtown Winston Salem. She moved to Richmond with her sister and discovered a new career in title searches and mortgage loan writing, working for Friedlander Mortgage and then traveling throughout central Virginia researching documents in county courthouses. Returning to her beloved NC, Lisa began work with the Z Smith Reynolds Foundation in Winston-Salem. She worked there for 10 years as an event and travel planner. She loved her work and all those she encountered. Lupus began its attack and she began the battle which would ultimately take her young life. Even after being disabled, Lisa still worked to maintain an active and productive life. She volunteered for Hospice and for Winston Salem Human Service Alliance. She cared for her parents lovingly until their passing. She loved her pugs, Rosie and Jack (deceased) and Daisy, Harley and Lulu who survive her. She loved traveling to see relatives all over the country, was a blue ribbon winning cake baker, and she specialized in generational southern recipes. She loved reading, cross-stitch, Hollywood, card and board games, fall fishing at the beach and her beloved Carolina Basketball team has lost their greatest fan. Sweet Lisa loved to laugh, have a great time and make everyone feel at home. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, James Cecil, Jr. and Aunt and Second Mother Shelby Clinard. She is survived by sister and lifelong BFF Monica Cecil, brother Tony Cecil, sister in law Meka Cecil, nephew Brandon(Heather)Cecil, goddaughter Jackie Martin. Her special cousins/ siblings Kim, Debbie, Sabrina, Brad, Mickey and Uncle Alton Clinard, Julie Kerley, June Barger, special Aunts Ruth Martin and Elizabeth Long. There truly was an angel on earth named Lisa.
