Lisa Bailey

Mrs. Lisa Davis Bailey, 56, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ Tuesday, October 2, 2018.  She was born February 21, 1962 in Forsyth County to Joe Davis and the late Mary Hall Davis. She was their precious 10-year miracle. In addition to her father, Lisa is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 20 years, Warren Bailey and her K-9 son, Parker.  Lisa held a BA in Business from UNC Charlotte and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Salem College. In her professional life, Lisa was a highly devoted teacher of children with learning disabilities for 23 years, with 20 years at Northwest Middle School (NWMS). Prior to her teaching career, Lisa worked at Piedmont Airlines. She was steadfast and dutiful. Lisa was a dedicated member and lay leader at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. She served in many ways including Sunday School teacher for members and visitors with disabilities.  For dedication to excellence while serving at NWMS, she was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2003 and again in 2015. In 2003 she was awarded the Helping Hand Award by the Winston-Salem Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities. In 2006 she was awarded Teacher of Excellence by the NC State Board of Education.  Lisa’s heart was also devoted to her Piedmont Self-Advocates (PSA) group, a small friends group serving adults with disabilities. She championed and led the PSA group for 19 years.  Lisa loved everyone, and everyone loved Lisa.  A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 PM Saturday, October 6 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville.  There will also be a graveside service conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 7 at Forsyth Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Road, Winston-Salem NC, 27105.
