Linley Parnell

KERNERSVILLE - Linley Logan Parnell, 83, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Linley was born March 28, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Claude and Gertrude Logan Parnell. He retired from RJ Reynolds and was a member of Friedland Moravian Church. Linley enjoyed farming and landscaping. He also enjoyed NASCAR, and classic cars.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Parnell; a daughter, Angie Swaim (Dean) of Kernersville; two sons, Kevin Parnell (Gena) of South Carolina, and Brad Parnell (Teri) of Louisiana; 10 grandchildren, Derrick Swaim (Krissy), Chase Swaim (Rebecca), Meredith Parnell, Hannah Booker (Paul), Emily Nifong (Wesley), Jacob Parnell (friend, Cayla), Courtney Watkins (Eric), Jake Benson (Jillian), Kassie Parnell, and Grant Parnell; 5 great grandchildren, Tucker, Bennett, Evelyn, Karston and Adley; one brother, Gary Parnell (Gerri), sisters-in-law, Betty Reich and Catherine Sloan; brother-in-law, Gene Chambers; special friends, Bill Weavil and Larry Jarvis; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Friedland Moravian Church with Pastors Wayne Byerly and Steve Craver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Parlor. Due to the weather, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, at the church graveyard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedland Moravian Church, 2750 Friedland Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Palliative Care Gift Fund- FMC Foundation, 3333 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
The family extends a heartfelt Thank You to Dr. Brooten and Dr. Copeland and the Palliative Care Staff at Forsyth Medical Center for their loving care for Linley.
