Lindsay Herbert Brown

Mr. Lindsay Herbert Brown, 74, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1936 in Forsyth County to Gillis and Lottie Lindsay Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church where he was a past deacon, a member of the choir, and taught Sunday School for as long as his health permitted. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds-Archer with 31 years of service. He also retired from Gumtree Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved bowling, and enjoyed helping at the Crosby and other golf tournaments. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, JoAnn Brown of the home; two sons, Robert L. Brown and wife Lisa of Raleigh, Mark A. Brown and wife Gina of Concord; four grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor Brown, Chase and Sawyer Brown; and a special brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Mary Isaacs of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Haley and the Rev. Jim Saul officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Gumtree Volunteer Fire Department, 2466 Gumtree Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
