Linda Peterson Perry

PERRY
Pfafftown - Linda Peterson Perry went home to the open arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to the welcoming reunion with her son, David, on Monday, April 13, 2015. She was born September 26, 1939 to Charles and Margie Peterson of Winston-Salem. She grew up in the Ardmore district and was a graduate of Reynolds High School and of Sullins College in Bristol, VA. She studied nursing in Charlotte and at Women's College, now UNC-G. She married Bennett Perry on September 2, 1961. Linda was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother, and gourmet cook. Some things Linda held dear were the beach, her dog and her garden, especially her daylilies. But closest to her heart were her three grandsons of whom she was extremely proud. She was very active in the Moravian church all her life, and held many positions in the church including Vice Chairman of the Board of Elders, President of Women's Fellowship, deiner and member of various groups at Fries Moravian Church. She also held the position of Head Deiner, and was a member of Sunday School, chicken pie group and church decorating group at Unity Moravian Church in Lewisville. She was a leader of the Girl Scouts, co-chairman of the PTA for Jefferson Academy, and a volunteer with Pink Broomsticks, being a 27-year survivor of breast cancer herself. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David.
She is survived by her devoted husband; her loving daughter Katherine; her three adored grandsons Noah, Tucker and Jake; her sister Pat Johnson; and many nephews and nieces in various states.
Visitation will be held at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. Services will be held at Unity Moravian Church in Lewisville at 11:00 AM Friday, April 17, 2015, with the Right Reverend Wayne Burkette officiating. Burial will follow in God's Acre, Old Salem.
A special thanks to her caregivers at Forsyth Medical Center and especially to Hope Evans and Chere Gregory. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com .
