Linda Jane Burnett Crouse

Linda Jane Burnett Crouse, born on November 17, 1940, in Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the beloved daughter of George Edward and Jane High Burnett.

Linda graduated from New Hanover High School in 1958 and went on to complete her nursing education at NC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. She married Foy E. Crouse from Winston-Salem on September 3, 1961, and together they raised four sons: Gene (Tori), Steve (Linda Hohu), David (Shannon), and Richard (Anna).

Linda's family was her pride and joy. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren: Ashley, Brandon Wise (Lainey), Brittany Ridgway (Josh), Jason, Alex (Monique), Daniel, Sullivan, Sidney, Jonah (Kelcie), and Sam (Sarah). She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Lennon, Isabella, and Emersyn Crouse and Cooper Ridgway.

Linda dedicated 33 years to her nursing career, starting at NC Baptist Hospital in 1961 and retiring from the Red Cross in 1994. She held various leadership positions and served as Alumni President for the NCBH School of Nursing. Her commitment to her profession and her patients was unwavering.

A devoted member of Ardmore Baptist Church since 1963, Linda was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered in Scouting from 1973 until 2013, serving as Den Leader, Co-cubmaster, District Training Chairman, and District Committee member. She received several awards for her service, including Pack Scouter of the Year, District Award of Merit, Cub Scout Trainer Wood Badge Beads, and the Good Shepherd for Distinguished Service Award.

In 2017, Linda was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Her husband, Foy, was her primary caregiver throughout her illness, but he recognizes that he couldn’t have done it alone. It has been said that “it takes a village”. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Ed Hill, Jim and Ann Page, Lucille and Peggy Crouse, and the staff at Ardmore Baptist Church and Trinity Glen, as well as others who have shown their love and support during her difficult journey.

At 12:12am on February 25, her “Get-up and go got-up and went”. She is now at peace with her Savior and many loved ones who have gone before her.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Gina M. Brock and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45pm prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Linda’s memory to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the Alzheimer’s Association of NC, 4600 Park Rd., Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
