KERNERSVILLE- Linda Sue Mayes Hopkins, 69, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born January 1, 1942 in Forsyth Co. to the late Dover Bain and Nellie Mayberry Mayes. Linda retired from Hanes Hosiery after 17 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wade and Kenneth Mayes and four sisters, Ruth Slade, Valerie Freeman, Mona Martin, and Sona Carter . Surviving are her husband, Harold D. Hopkins, Sr. of the home; two sons, Michael Hopkins and wife, Dana, Harold Hopkins, Jr. and wife, Lisa all of Kernersville; six grandchildren, Hal David Hopkins, Daniel Hopkins, Heather Hopkins, Brooke Winter, Briana Lovings, and Hannah Hopkins; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Hopkins, Natalie and Ethan Hancock; and one sister, Edith Moogk. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 4, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Rob Decker officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
