Linda Wilson Gilbert went home to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1942 in Forsyth County to Cicero ""Unt"" Columbus and Dorothy Reid Wilson. Linda was a 1961 graduate of James A. Gray High School. She was a member of the Gumtree Fire and Rescue Auxiliary since 1974 and a Charter Member of Faith Missionary Alliance Church, the church where she and her true love, Bruce were married on June 24, 1960. She was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Bruce in 2006, her sister, Judy Arnder, her brother-in-law, Coy Arnder and her niece, Cheryl Arnder Hoots. Linda will be remembered as a loving-caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma ""Nana"", great grandma and a friend, aunt and sister. All of Linda's family held a special place in her heart. She loved gathering all her family together for all special occasions and loved cooking for them. Linda always told them she loved them when she saw or talked to them on the phone or if texting them. Linda believed in saying the three words, ""I love you."" She also loved sending birthday, sympathy, get well and notes of encouragement cards. Many prayers were said daily for her family, friends and anyone that needed prayers. She always said this was a special ministry that the Lord gave to her. Linda is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Scott) Everhart, her son, Byron (Sherrie) Gilbert all of Winston-Salem; a very proud grandma ""Nana"" to four granddaughters, Heather (Sam) Stack of High Point, Christy L. Everhart and Sierra N. Gilbert of Winston-Salem and Kimberly (James) Ash of Denton; a grandson, Kevin (Emily) Alphin of Winston-Salem; proud great grandma ""Nana"" to a grandson, Logan Tyler Alphin and granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Ash, a brother, Terry R. Wilson of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Nancy (Don) Boles of Advance; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends she has made through the years and those who helped Linda after the death of Bruce. "" I loved each of you in a special way. Thanks for caring."" The funeral service will be held at Faith Missionary Alliance Church, at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Gates, Pastor Albert Smith and Rev. Mark Hollar. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens where she will finally be beside her dear husband, Bruce. The family will receive family and friends at the church Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
