Linda Burgess Culler, 67, passed away on May 22, 2021, after an arduous battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Linda was born in Winston-Salem, NC, to Thelma Hamm Burgess and Heggie Bishop Burgess. She was a graduate of North Forsyth High School and Forsyth Technical Community College. Linda met her lifelong love, Eddie, and the pair were married for over 44 years with two children. For nearly 40 years, Linda was the owner of Big Oak Restaurant—a beloved place where she met friends who became family. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Heggie Bishop Burgess; mother, Thelma Hamm Burgess; son, Adam William Culler; and brothers, Jimmy Burgess and Curtis Burgess. Linda is survived by her husband, Eddie William Culler; daughter, Samantha Lynn Culler (Justin Loggains); sisters, Barbara Burgess (Junior Stewart), Cindy Mabe (Clarence Mabe), Paula Stop (Russ Stop), Donna Burgess, Betty Mabe, Debbie Tuttle (Roger Tuttle), and Judy Gordy (Lee Gordy); and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cats. In addition to her unique driving skills and love for rock music and concerts, Linda had a sincere passion for helping people. Throughout her life, Linda was a shining example of empathy, compassion, kindness, generosity, patience, and altruism. As an unofficial mother to many, she taught those around her how to love unconditionally and work hard, and she could help a person see the best in themselves. Linda's legacy includes assuring people around her were well cared for, loved, fed, and housed. She was an outstanding advocate for those who needed help finding their voice. A graveside service celebrating Linda’s life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jesse Butcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
