Clemmons Mrs. Linda Hiatt Cline, 76, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home. Linda was born October 28, 1937 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late John Andrew Hiatt, Sr. and Mabel Farabee Hiatt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James ""Jim"" Cline, Jr. She attended college at ASU in Boone, where she met her husband. They lived in Boone for most of their married years until they moved to Clemmons to be closer to their children and grandchildren and get back to her roots. Linda devoted her life to raising her children and being a loving wife. She had a compassionate heart and was always thinking about others. If you visited her home you were always sure to have at least 2 servings of dessert. She found enjoyment in the simple things in life and wanted to make others feel better about themselves. This continued through her last days as she comforted her family and friends while she battled her terminal illness. Linda's strong faith was a powerful presence to witness. Linda is survived by two daughters, Joanna Rene Williams and husband, Stuart of Winston-Salem and Monica Freece Casey and husband, James of Pfafftown; one son, James Curtis Cline, III and wife, Carla of Hendersonville; five granddaughters, Joanna, Christina, and Miranda Williams and Katie and Claire Casey; two sisters, June Motsinger of Winston-Salem and Johnnsie Faircloth and husband, Jimmy of Burlington and one brother, John Andrew Hiatt, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Winston-Salem. She had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Clemmons with Rev. Randy Waugh and Rev. Arnold Gosnell officiating. Her body will lie-in-state 45 minutes prior to the service. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
