Colfax- Ms. Lillie Geneva “Neva” Westmoreland Long, 102 years, 4 months, and 6 days, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022, at her residence. She was born on December 19, 1919, in Guilford County to Lindsay P. and Janette “Net” Westmoreland. Neva was a faithful and lifelong member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time gardening. Neva also loved to cook and was known for making the best biscuits. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend who will be so missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Neva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Parran Henry Long; one grandson, Gerald Johnson; and six siblings, Maude Hendrix, Hubert Westmoreland, Opal Jordan, Hettie McCollum, Annie Nuckles, and Rubert Westmoreland.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Geraldine Johnson (Henry) and Shelby Crump (Jerry); five grandchildren, Rhonda Owens (Randy), Faron Johnson, Nathan Johnson (Katie), Darla Freeman (Bruce), and Scott Crump (Melanie); granddaughter-in-law, Donna Johnson; 14 great grandchildren, April, Lindsay, Everette, Zach, Heather, Christopher, Scott, Brett, Noah, Marshall, Watson, Lillie, Parran, and Anthony ; three step-great grandchildren, William, Jessica, and Cindel,; seven great-great grandchildren, Davidson, Craven, Paisley, Brynlee, Stella, Aaron, and Austin; seven step-great-great grandchildren, Karleigh, Maggie, Anna, Mack, Luke, Marcus, and Lillian; one sister, Ruth Holt; and sister-in-law, Dolly Westmoreland.
A funeral service for Neva will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Bruce Freeman and Pastor Faron Johnson officiating. There will be a private family burial following the service. There will be no formal visitation with family present, but the public is welcome to view Neva as well as sign the register from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to AuthoraCare Collective for the care that Neva received during her time with Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective at 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
