Lillie Myers Holcomb

Mrs. Lillie Myers Holcomb, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her residence. She was born April 18, 1925 in Forsyth County to Alonzo Fisher and Sara Jordan Myers. Mrs. Holcomb grew up in Advent Moravian Church and after her marriage became a member of Griffith Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Griffith School where she played on the All County basketball team and was a member of the track team. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ray Franklin Holcomb, Sr.; one sister, Ethel Zimmerman; and one brother, Buddy Myers. Surviving is one daughter, Sara Jackson Hyman; one son, Frank Holcomb and wife Pat; five grandchildren, Jay Jackson and wife Kris, Ray Jackson, Travis Holcomb, Adam Holcomb, and Lindsay Holcomb; two great grandchildren, Jordan Jackson and William Jackson; and several special nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1st at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Willard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Senior Services Adult Day Care Center, 2895 Shorefair Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
