Lillie Cleide McDowell Apple

OAK RIDGE-Lillie Cleide McDowell Apple, 89, a resident at Westchester Manor, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Hospice Home at High Point. She was born in Guilford Co. to the late Newton Dewitt and Gertrude Rierson McDowell.

Cleide was a member of the Kernersville Seventh-Day Adventist Church for many years and served in many offices of the church. She retired from Jefferson Pilot after 27 years of service. Cleide loved to cook and read, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Bartee Apple; brothers, N.D. McDowell and Roger McDowell; sisters, Hilda Smith and Gwendolyn Knight.

Surviving are her daughter, Teresa Apple; granddaughter, Heather Blaylock and husband, Shane; one sister, Maxine Creason; four brothers, Johnny, Archie, Dan, and Jerry McDowell; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Kernersville Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Rev. Donald Davis and Elder Duane Peterson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at the church.
