Lillian Jones Snyder Chafin

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Lillian Jones Snyder Chafin, 70, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Lillian was born January 26, 1942 in Rockingham County to the late Luther Andrew and Claudia Mae Sizemore Jones. She was a graduate of Kernersville High School and worked in administration at Burlington Industries and The Kernersville News. Lillian was a member of Triad Baptist Church and a former member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Her colorful personality matched her love for flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling and re-decorating her home! Lillian was a beautiful person, inside and out, always offering a smile to everyone. She was a wonderful wife, mother and 'Nanny'. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Snyder; two brothers Donnie and Benny Jones; and one sister, MaryAnn Smith. Surviving are her husband, W. Al Chafin, Jr. of the home; three daughters, Debbie Hinds (Marc), Patricia Stahl (David) and Kathy Collins (Jimmy); two step daughters, Cindy Lawson (Ray) and Wendy Mann (Greg) of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Isgett, Connor and Garrett Hinds, and Gavin Collins; 4 step grandchildren, Joshua, Josiah and John Mann, and Tiffany Loggins (Zack); one sister, Imogene Wilson (Roger); one brother-in-law, Robert Smith; one special sister-in-law, Martha Mabe (Floyd); and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Robert Decker and Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 11:30 - 12:45 Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
