Mrs. Lila Wells Thompson Moody, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Oaks at Forsyth. She was born June 27, 1920 in Haywood County to Astor A. and Elizabeth Lou Howell. Mrs. Moody was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome since 1948. She was preceded in death by two husbands, James P. Thompson and Hugh A. Moody and two brothers, Samuel L. Wells and Ned R. Wells. Surviving are two daughters, Esther T. Brinkley (William) of Winston-Salem and Jean T. Smith (Jim) of Lexington; two grandchildren, Heather Johnson (Mark) and Michael Brinkley (Britt); one great granddaughter, Christina Bree Brinkley; two step granddaughters, Caitlyn Berrier and Molly Kepley (Travis); two brothers, Hugh A. Wells of Winston-Salem and John C. Wells of Clemmons and one sister, Kay W. Spainhour of Pensacola, FL.; and beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Welcome with Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.A special thanks the Oaks at Forsyth for their loving care of our Mother.
