Mr. L.F. ""Chicken"" Holder, Jr., 84 of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Mr. Holder was born August 9, 1927 to L.F. Holder, Sr. and Lillian Mabe Holder of King. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was retired from Sealtest Dairy/Dairy Fresh Corp. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holder was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria and a son, Dwight; three brothers, Samuel, Aaron and Maynard; one sister, Nancy; and a granddaughter, Robin. He is survived by his wife Vicki of the home; son, Buddy Martin of Sunset Beach; daughter, Jodi (Gary) Lomax of Davidson Co.; daughters, Sandra (Keith) Smith of King, Janet (Avery) Cox of Pilot Mountain; a son, Bruce Holder of Wallace, NC; and their mother, Audrey Holder of King. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild and brothers and sisters, Mae Hill of King, Eugene (Nell) Holder of California, Leo (Juanita) Holder of King, Rex (Judy) Holder of King, Bonnie Mitchell of King, Harold (Faye) Holder of Clemmons, Carlos (Mary) Holder of Clemmons, and Linda (James) Benson of Pilot Mountain. A celebration of life service will be held 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at South Fork Baptist Church, 3830 Wayne Ave., Winston-Salem, where he was a faithful member and deacon. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Sewell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030; or to the church.
