Mr. Lewis Garland Williams, 76, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born in Rhodell, West Virginia to Garland and Alma Leola McCracken Williams on February 27, 1933. He attended the Staunton Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind and later retired from Southern Tool Manufacturing Company with 45 years of service. Mr. Williams loved to bowl and was a true hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Carl Williams. Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bessie W. Williams of the home; three sisters Wanda Smith and husband Hiester of Florida, Betty Stallard and husband Noel of Richlands, VA, and Patricia Harmon of Honaker, VA; a brother Ronald Williams of Glade Spring, VA; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
