Mr. Lewis Alfred Holland, 98, went home to be with the Lord, March 5, 2016 at Universal Health Care in King, N.C. He was born March 9, 1917 in McDowell County to the late Lewis Franklin Holland and Hattie Vaughn Holland. Lewis retired from Marion Manufacturing Co. with 43 years of service. He was a faithful member of Rocky Pass Freewill Baptist Church for more than 75 years where he taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Helen Haynes Holland; four brothers, David, Ed, Albert ""Red"", and Dan Holland; one sister, Carrie Holland; one son-in-law James Lee Miller Jr., one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Erin Smith. He is survived by his son, Donald Holland (Nancy); daughter, Doris H. Miller; four grandchildren, Kaye Holland Roberts (Jerry), Cindy Holland Smith (Erick), James Lewis Miller (Kim), Andrea Miller Lomas (Jason); nine great-grandchildren, Erica Gaulden (Tyler), Seth, Noah and Shelley Roberts; Alexa, Colton and McKenna Miller and Aiden and Bryce Lomas; great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Ella Faith Gaulden; four sisters, Cora Lee Lonon, Mildred Hicks, Estelle Rhinehart and Naomi Hensley; two brothers, Clarence Holland and Luther Holland and a life-long friend, Lee Burleson. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Rocky Pass Freewill Baptist Church in Nebo, NC with Rev. Alan Sailors officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
