KERNERSVILLE - Lewis Wilton Donavant, 78, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Lewis was born on July 24, 1935 in Henry County, VA to the late Hobert and Mary Hodges Donavant. He was a supervisor at Hooker Furniture for many years and retired from Unique Furniture Makers. Lewis was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church. He loved working in his garden and wood shop where he made furniture. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his daughter, Nora Donavant; three brothers, James, Daniel and Hubert Donavant; and four sisters, Nora and Nellie Donavant, Irma Ray and Christine Honeycutt. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Stowe Donavant, of the home; one son, Lewis Jeffrey Donavant of Macon, GA; one granddaughter, Sierra Jade Donavant of Macon, GA; one sister, Linda Walker of Danville, VA; and a host of loving nieces and nephews, neighbors and church family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Glenn View Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Wright and Rev. Johnny Gupton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Glenn View Baptist Church, 4275 Glenn High Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or charity of donor's choice.
