Lester Mccaskill

Greensboro- Mr. Lester Grouland McCaskill, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born November 15, 1939, in Moore County, NC to Eliza Fay Lampley and Roy Grouland McCaskill. He was a devoted husband and loving father, and a great friend to all that knew him. Being a fun-loving man and prankster at heart, he gave out nicknames to many family members. It has been said that he never met a stranger.  If anyone ever needed a hand with something, Lester was the person they called. He loved spending time with family, golfing, hunting, woodworking, and fishing.  Lester loved his pastor and church family.

In addition to his parents, Lester is preceded by his great grandson, Corbin Lynn McCaskill; and his sister.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58-1/2 years, Beverly Lea McCaskill; four children: James McCaskill (Crystal), Michael McCaskill (Susanna), Anisa Crosby, and Alison Rodgers (David); 12 grandchildren, Jackie McCaskill, Paige Matthews, Alex Staley (Stephen), Wil McCaskill, Wesley McCaskill (Sierra), Morgan Wiles (Jackson), Madison McCaskill, Christopher Crosby (Alyssa), Jonathan Crosby, Kaylee Rodgers, Nathaniel Rodgers (Robin), and Luke Rodgers (Hannah); four great grandchildren; one brother, Douglas McCaskill (Brenda); several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Morrison and Reverend Frank Shumate officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum -Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
