Lester N. Hilton

Mr. Lester N. Hilton passed away at his home on Saturday, February 21, 2009. He was born on November 10, 1923 to Phillip and Ella Hilton. He was preceded in death on March 9, 2006 by his loving wife, Marquetta, six brothers and two sisters. Lester (Deda) is survived by his devoted daughters, Jacqueline H. Johnson and Sue H. Orrell (Rocky), a wonderful son-in-law. He was blessed with kind and generous relatives, neighbors and friends and a special friend, J.B. Dunn. Also surviving are three sisters, Doris Mock, Mary Myers and Jessie Mullis (James) and a brother, Eddie Hilton (Emily). Lester was one of the CC Boys who later went to California where he joined the Merchant Marines, the most dangerous branch of service to serve his country during World War II. He retired from Carolina Marble and Tile Company. He was raised with few of lifes necessities and yet he achieved so much. His motto was ""If someone is smart enough to invent it, I should be smart enough to make it work"". Mr. Hilton was a master of jokes who loved life. He will be missed by many. We will always remember him for his love, wit, hard work and good looks. Lester was a kind person to all and a wonderful father to his girls. We love you Deda and Mother. Watch over us and may God help us to always make you proud. A private Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
