Mr. Lester Glenn Chapple, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully in his sleep at home February 14, 2009. He was born February 26, 1920 one of twelve children to Garfield Allen and Ellen Lentz Chapple. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart Award. Mr. Chapple was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 45 ½ years of dedicated service. He was a lifelong member of Augsburg Lutheran Church where he was very active. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lucille Hauser Chapple; a son, Mike Chapple and wife, Carrie of Advance; four grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Jennifer C. Chandler and husband Ronnie of High Point, Zach Chapple, Hannah Chapple, and Molly Chapple all of Advance; two sisters, Sarah Clayton and Helen Matthews and husband Jack; a brother, Richard Chapple and wife, Louise, all of Winston-Salem; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday at Augsburg Lutheran Church with Dr. Ronald A.Rinn and Rev. Shirley Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church, 845 W.
