Leslie Marion Maxcy (Les), 71, of Winston-Salem, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on October 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 10, 1953, to the late Lloyd and Aeleen Maxcy.
Les was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Phillip Maxcy. He is survived by his wife, Terri Maxcy; two daughters, Kasey Odom (Mike) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Abby Gardner (Danny) of Waxhaw; and six grandchildren: Max Odom, Tate Odom, Remi Ann Odom, Hailey Gardner, Peyton Gardner, and Mason Gardner. Also surviving are his brothers, David Maxcy (Dianne) and Jeff Maxcy; his sister, Wanda Maxcy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Debbie and Freddie Largen; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After a 14-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, he has won the war and has received his fully healed body. His strength and determination over the past decade allowed him to know and love his six grandchildren while also blessing so many others around him.
Les graduated from Parkland High School in 1972 and then was employed by Pepsi Bottling Ventures, from which he retired in 2008. He was an active member of First Alliance Church in Lexington, NC, and held his church family close at heart.
He was a skilled craftsman and loved woodworking, tinkering with his 1968 Chevrolet truck, remodeling houses, fixing anything he could get his hands on, and playing golf with his buddies. But most of all, he loved serving others with his heart of gold. His desire to love his neighbors was unmatched and will live on for generations to come.
Les brought warmth and light to all who knew him. His quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and perfectly timed comments had us all laughing at just the right moments. Les will be deeply missed by everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4th at First Alliance Church of Lexington (1370 Arnold Road, Lexington), with Pastor Paul Titus officiating. Burial will follow at “God’s Acre.” The family will receive friends in the Welcome Center at First Alliance Church prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for you to perform an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in his honor. Memorials may be made to First Alliance Church, if desired.
