Leroy Francis Fussell

Mr. Leroy Francis Fussell, 89, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016. He was born in Forsyth County on June 29, 1926 to the late Leroy Jefferson and Millie Curry Fussell. Mr. Fussell retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 39 years of service in the Leaf Department. He was a faithful member of Pinedale Christian Church. Over the many years at the church, he served as Choir Director, Deacon, Treasurer, and sang in a Male Quartet. Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Bettie Norris Fussell; son, Horace James ""Jim"" Fussell and wife Judy of Clemmons; three daughters, Rebecca Lynn ""Beckie"" Fussell of Winston-Salem, Gloria Fussell Caudill and husband Tom of Bermuda Run, and Melissa Fussell Lefebvre and husband Dean of Lexington; four grandchildren, Matthew Fussell and wife Ali, Brooke Everhart and husband Brad, Jonathan Caudill, and Savannah Lefebvre; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Avery, Elsie, and Luke; also surviving is his brother, Thurmond Fussell and wife Phyllis of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Pinedale Christian Church with Pastor Bill McKenzie and Pastor Bob McCaskill officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to the JDRF Piedmont Triad Chapter, 216 West Market St. Suite B, Greensboro, NC 27401.
