Leotta Jenkins White

Mrs. Leotta Jenkins White, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016.

Leotta was born December 21, 1924 in Randolph County to Ernest and Hollie Jenkins. A member of Sandy Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Liberty, NC, she began attending Bethlehem United Church of Christ after moving to Winston-Salem. She retired from Hanes Hosiery after 39 years of service. After retirement, Leotta volunteered her time for many causes, including food drives at church and making over 2.000 pillows for the American Cancer Society. One of her favorite things was volunteering at a daycare, cooking for the staff and children. Her cooking and baking skills were greatly admired, and she always had an open table for anyone to eat at. Lovingly known as ""Grammy"" to her family, Leotta's forgiving nature and open heart will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wesley ""Bill"" Jenkins, Kermit Jenkins, and Robert ""Bob"" Jenkins.

Leotta is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Francis ""Harold"" White; sons, Gregory White and wife Jeanie and Gary White; grandchildren, Andrea Lawrence and husband Jason, Neil White & Teresa, and Emily White; great-grandchildren, Olivia White and Isabelle Lawrence; brother, James Jenkins and wife Ruby; sisters-in-law, LeeAnn Jenkins and Bea Jenkins; special nephew, Larry Jenkins and his wife Wendy, as well as several other adored nieces and nephews who she loved visiting with.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 2 pm at Forsyth Memorial Park. At other times, visitors are welcome at granddaughter Andrea's home.
