Leonard Pershing Martin

Advance Mr. Leonard Pershing Martin, 93, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC. He was born June 4, 1921 in Jonesville, NC to the late Robert Lester and Lois Kerley Martin. Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church. Preceding him in death was his wife, Gertie Martin; one brother, R.L. Martin and two sisters, Mildred Bryant and Bobbie Roberts. Surviving are two daughters, Gayle Foster and Libby Nonnemacher (Robert); son, Robert Martin (Maria); five grandchildren, Dana Essick, Gray Canter, John Canter, Troy Nonnemacher, and Matthew Nonnemacher; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Vena Minton. A visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. A private service and burial will be held later.
