Leona Frances Ketner Swaim

Kernersville-Leona Frances Ketner Swaim, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Oaks at Forsyth. She was born November 11, 1927 in Forsyth Co. to the late Nathaniel Edwin and Delia Brandon Ketner. Frances was co-owner of the Shoe Center in Kernersville for 24 years and also worked for the Kernersville News. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Boyer's Chapel in Winston Salem. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, and one sister. Surviving are her daughter, Ginger Swaim Whitt and husband Javan of Winston Salem; two grandchildren, Cameron Whitt of Winston Salem, Corey Whitt of Kernersville; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Whitt; one sister, Verna Reed and husband David of Clemmons; one sister-in-law, Edith Ketner of Clemmons; a very special friend, Grover Chaney; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Mr. Marvin Williams and Mr. Bobby Ketner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and following the service at the funeral home. A private committal service will be held at a later day.
