Leona Hicks Whicker Robinson

WINSTON-SALEM Mrs. Leona Hicks Whicker Robinson, the rock and clay foundation of our family, is now absent from the body and present with the Lord. She was born November 20, 1919 to Roy and Mabel Sands Hicks of Walnut Cove, NC. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Alton Hicks; one granddaughter, Lisa Dawn Inman; and one grandson, Michael Chad Whicker. She is survived by all six of her children: Yvonne (Leon) Clifton of Walkertown, Gwen Whicker of Kernersville, Gary (Pat) Whicker of Winston-Salem, Kay (David) Mabe of Walnut Cove, Eddie Whicker of Walnut Cove, Mike (Joyce) Whicker of Walnut Cove; three brothers, Roy Glenn Hicks of Port Hadlock, WA and Carlton and Jack Hicks of Walnut Cove; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild. She is also survived by a special friend and neighbor, Janelle Doss. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Walnut Cove with Brother Bobby Roberson officiating.
