Leona Putnam

Mrs. Leona Frances Whitaker Putnam, 86, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She was born September 8, 1936 in Surry County to Burley Clay Whitaker and Sadie Slawter Whitaker. Mrs. Putnam was of the Baptist faith and loved to read as a hobby. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Putnam; one brother, Robert Landis and two sisters, Rosa Potts and Bessie Ashburn. Surviving are her two sons, Billy Ray Putnam and Ricky Lee Putnam; one daughter, Stephanie Putnam Adams; two brothers, Harold Whitaker and Melvin Whitaker; one sister, Linda Atkins and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
