Leona Rierson Hiers Gordon

Leona Rierson Hiers Gordon passed away on July 22, 2013 at Kindred Care. She was born April 12, 1922 to John Frank Rierson and Rosa Hauser Rierson in Forsyth County. Leona was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church for over 50 years. In the 1930's and 40's she was ""Dixie Lee"" in Rainbow Ranch Girls, an all-girl band. An avid race fan, Leona was crazy about Jeff Gordon. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Gordon, Sr. Survivors include 3 children, John W. Gordon, Jr. (Janet) of Pfafftown; Dixie Walsh (Richard) of Clemmons, and Randy Gordon (Vicki) of Winston-Salem; 3 grandchildren, Mark Gordon, Michelle Gordon, and Misty Gravley (Justin); a great grandchild, Christina Power; and a sister, Luvada Gulledge. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Jim Saul officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
