Leona Balser Bryson

KERNERSVILLE-Leona Balser Bryson, 77, formerly of 174 Rockford Rd., beloved wife of 52 years to Roland Bryson and Granny to Snookie, Ashley, and Spencer, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 24, 2010. She was born June 15, 1932 in West Virginia to the late Maywood Wilbur and Cora Jane Proctor Balser. Mrs. Bryson was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and the Auditorium Class. Leona left WV after she finished high school and went to Cleveland, OH and was employed immediately with White Motor Corp. She worked for White Motor Corp. until the Volvo taker over in 1979, and was offered a position with Volvo in North Carolina. She accepted the position and moved to Kernersville and has resided ever since. Leona loved flowers and was an avid gardener. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Don Balser of Cleveland, OH. In addition to her husband, surviving are; six brothers, Greg Balser of FL, Nahum Balser and wife Janet of WV, Theo Balser and wife Loretta, Nehemiah (Nick) Balser and wife Audrey, Lowell Balser and wife Cheryl, and Eli Balser and wife Carol all of OH; eight nephews and nieces, Randy, Danny, Tony, Mark, Rhonda, Patty Sue, Leslie, and Shirley; fifteen great-nephews and nieces; four great-great nephews and nieces; two aunts, Macel Massey of TX, and Myrtle Corsino of OH; and many extended family and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 pm prior to the service at the church.
