Leon "Jiggs" T. Poole

Mr. Leon ""Jiggs"" T. Poole, age 91 of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Poole was born in Durham County, January 4, 1925 to James Franklin Poole and Maggie Riggs Poole. He retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 2004. In addition to his parents Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Helen Flynn Poole, one sister, Edna Bourgeois and one brother, James ""Bo"" Poole. Mr. Poole is survived by one daughter, Karen (Dorsey) Kemp of King. Three sons: Kelly Poole of Greenville, SC, David (Katie) Poole of King and Scott (Cathy) Poole of Winston-Salem. Five grandchildren: Jamie (Laura) Collins, Caitlyn Poole, Audrenna Poole, Joseph Roselli and Chistina Roselli. Six great-grandchildren; Kaden, Larissa, Trenten, Christionna, Lilah, and Violet Roselli. One nephew, Larry Poole. Funeral services for Mr. Poole will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Pastor Roger Baker and Pastor Kevin Broyhill. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park with Military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
