Leon Clifton Chappell

CLEMMONS, NC-Mr. Leon Clifton Chappell, 82, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at his home. Mr. Chappell was born on October 26, 1932 in Forsyth County to the late Charles Clifton Chappell and Ola Myers Chappell. Mr. Chappell served his country in the United States Army. He retired from AT&T after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Chappell was a member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Chappell and Thurman Chappell, and two sisters, Grace Walker and Velda Smith. Mr. Chappell is survived by his wife, Ruth Joyce Chappell of the home; one daughter, Pam Casey and husband, Greg of Lexington, NC; two grandchildren, Joseph Casey and wife, Jennie of Pilot Mountain, NC and Lauren Casey of Bryson City, NC; three great-granddaughters, Elsa Casey, Cora Casey, and Helena Casey; and one brother, James Chappell and wife, Bonnie Jean of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Freeman and Rev. Jack Luther officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Harmony Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5041 Styers Ferry Rd., Lewisville, NC 27023 or Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
