Leo G. Pegram

Mr. Leo G. Pegram, 86, of Lewisville died on Monday, December 21, 2015. He was born on September 17, 1929, the ninth child of ten children to the late John William and Bessie Amanda Transou Pegram. Raised on the family farm, he lived his entire life in the home he built on a parcel of that land. After graduating from South Fork High School in 1949, he spent time in the U.S. Army, and the National Guard. He was married to Marie Tucker for 65 years, and was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. After retiring from Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co., he worked in construction, and at Irish Oaks horse farm. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with wood crafts. He loved gardening and sharing his harvest with family and friends. He also loved to travel and toured through 48 states with Marie. He loved children, especially his three grandchildren and his numerous nieces and nephews. Leo was a lifelong member of Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his six sisters, Ethel Cook, Willie Kinney, Johnsie Moser, Hattie Hire, Faye Jones, Wanda Redding, and his three brothers, J.W., Billy, and Transou. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his sons, Joel (Renee) and Rex (Christy); grandchildren Katie, Jeffrey and Joshua. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Mr. Tommy Graham and Mr. Ray Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 11:30 am Thursday at the funeral home.
