Mr. Leo Francis Adams, 81, of Kernersville, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1930 in Forsyth County to Edward Evan and Mary Dickerson Adams. Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and served in Germany. He was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in King. He was retired from Coats America, formerly American Threads. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Rogers Adams. Surviving are his wife, Betty Joe Adams; two sons, Craig Adams (Christa) of Colorado Springs, CO and Alan Adams (Vonda) of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Ashley Adams, Sarah Adams and Nicholas Adams; two sisters, Doris Cain and Sue Branson (Joe); five brothers, Hugh Adams, Sam Adams (Shirley), Mahlon Adams (Audrey), Jim Adams (Maggie), and Bill Adams (Kathy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Snider officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, 1024 Volunteer Rd., King, NC 27021.
