Mrs. Lena Long Proctor Wood, 94, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at The Oaks at Forsyth. She was born in Davidson County on October 23, 1916. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She attended Midway High School and was a PBX Operator at the Robert E. Lee Hotel. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Proctor and by her second husband, James H. Wood. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Terry A. Brown ; a great-grandson, David A. Duquemin; a brother, Irvin Long and a sister, Opal Leonard. She is survived by her daughter, Lola Proctor Brown (Allen); two granddaughters, Sandra Ingram (Mike) of Ivanhoe, VA and Karon Duquemin (Chas) of Sherrills Ford, NC; eight great-grandchildren and a special friend, Eloise Everhart. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Guy Hipp and the Rev. John Krivsky officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 7:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Oaks and especially the Station One Nurses.
