Mr. Lemuel ""Lem"" Edwin Wilson, age 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday morning, January 11, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Wilson was born December 18, 1923 in Monmouth County, NJ to the late Edwin Grover and Emma Hunt Wilson. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Lem was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, square dancing and traveling. Lem will always be remembered by his family as a jack of all trades. In addition to his parents, Lem was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Parenteau and Charlotte Borden and one brother, Joseph Wilson. Surviving are his wife of 59 years of marriage, Dorothy Wilson of the home, one daughter, Sherry (Don) Matthews of Lewisville, one son Edwin Wilson of Washougal, WA., three grandchildren, Terri Zappala, Jacob Zappala and Jenny Wilson, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted Friday afternoon January 14, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston-Salem by Dr. Worth Green. The family will receive friends in the Banquet Room at the church following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1205, Winston-Salem, NC 27102-1205 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
