Lella Souther Jones

WINSTON-SALEM, NC--Mrs. Lella Souther Jones, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC. She was born on July 22, 1926, in Wilkes County, NC to Riley Lee and Goldie Moore Souther. She was a faithful member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church, where she was very active especially the choir, for many years. She was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 36 years of service. She enjoyed reading, listening to Christian music, working in her garden, and her flowers, as well as crocheting quilts and towels. Foremost she was a Godly Woman who was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Robert""Bob"" Jones;and eight brothers and sisters. Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lane and husband, Jerry of Winston Salem; three sons, Harvey Jones and wife, Alice of Taylors, S.C., Dr. Milton Jones and wife, Pam of Manhattan, IL and Rev. Michael Jones and wife, Susie of Panama City, FL.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Marshall of Winston Salem and Julie Steelman of North Wilksboro, NC; two brothers, Dewitt Souther of North Wilksboro, NC and Burette Souther of Moravian Falls, NC. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at Heritage Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Milton Jones and Dr. Jennings O'Neil officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00PM - 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
