Rural Hall Chapel- Mrs. Lelia “Joyce” Womble Flippin, 82, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born in Forsyth Co. on May 6, 1941, the daughter of the late Hubert William Womble and Evanell Newsome Womble. Joyce was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord. She worked at Kroger Grocery Store in the Deli Department until the store closed. Everybody who knew Joyce, knew to accept her as she was. She was outspoken and loved her family very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Flippin; a half-brother, Francis Womble; a half-sister, Kathleen Bailey; a brother, Clyde Womble; a sister; Nell Womble Hall; and two nephews, Allen Hall and Keith Womble. Joyce is survived by a sister, Jeryline Womble Martin; seven nephews, Nelson Martin (Donna), Hal Martin (Cheryl), Jay Martin (Sharon), Curtis Hall (Tina), Todd Hall (Sandra) Darryl Hall (Tracie) and C.V. Womble (Kim); one niece, Denna Joyce; and many great-nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Gary Styers officiating. Private Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family would like to thank all of the Doctors, nurses, and staff at Forsyth Medical Center and all of the other organizations involved in Joyce’s care for everything they did to care for her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Senior Services Meals on Wheels or Trellis Supportive Care.
