Leanell Groves

Mrs. Leanell Cook Groves, 90, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 26, 2021.  She was born June 15, 1930 in Wyoming County, West Virginia to the late Alonzo Marion Cook and Susie Mae Short Cook.  Leanell worked at Piedmont Airlines 24 years and 4 years with US Air.  She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and participated in the Faith and Care Ministries visiting nursing homes, shut-ins and sending cards to those families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Jackson Groves; son, Charles Michael Groves, Sr.; and a infant brother and sister, four brothers, Joe, Ralph, Buell, and Alonzo Marion, Jr.; sisters, Mary Bell, Gay, Hettie, and Bertha. She is survived by seven grandchildren; Christina Cain (Robert), Kevin Groves (Christie), Christa Hale (Cameron), Katie Beal, Cortni Groves, Chelsea Brown (Logan), and Charles Michael Groves Jr; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Charles Forrest Massie; one sister, Geraldean Adkins; and many nieces and nephews including, Debbie Adkins Hawley.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday February 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Pastor T Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
