Lawton Lenneau Caddell, of Winston-Salem passed away and into the arms of Jesus at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on December 25, 2008. He was born July 27, 1929 in Charleston, SC to Andrew L. Caddell and Lottie L. Caddell. Lawton was a man who dearly loved his family and devoted his whole life to them. He enjoyed nothing more than to sit and discuss with his son, Glenn and grandson, Scott about the trucking industry. He was a dedicated and professional truck driver with Roadway Express from 1960 until his retirement in 1994. He was proud of his million mile achievements and being a part of a convoy to move President Carter from the White House. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Annie Caddell; three brothers; and two sisters. Surviving Lawton is his wife of 59 years, Alene Driggers Caddell; daughters, Connie Foster and husband Kenny, and Lana Caddell of the home; son, Glenn Caddell and wife Teresa of Roanoke, VA; three grandchildren, Scott Sheets, Christine Rutledge, Misty Dawn; and eight great grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastors Bill McKenzie and Danny Spainhour officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Crisis Control Ministry, 200 E. 10th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
