Mr. Lawrence Anthony ""Larry"" Huskey, 84, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation in Winston-Salem. He was born March 7, 1930 to the late Rayford Anthony Huskey and Dora Hill Huskey. Larry retired from Pine Hall Brick with over 40 years of service and was a member and Deacon at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church in Germanton. He was an accomplished mason, with many years devoted to construction. Larry had many interests some of which included his love of genealogy on the Huskey family, basketball, football, woodworking and building dioramas of Civil War Battles. He was a member of MOSB- Military Order of the Stars and Bars. Larry proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. Above all else he loved his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Rae DeLoache and Dora Frances Huskey. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Susan Tuttle Huskey; his children, Amy Huskey Martin (Mike) of Westfield, Lawrence Woodson Huskey of East Bend, Michele Absher Gibble (Brian) of Arcadia and Brian Michael Absher of East Bend; five grandchildren, Taylor, Jared, Kennedy, Emma and Jackson; two brothers, Ronnie Huskey (Ruth) of Simpsonville, SC and Lou Huskey (Jan) of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church in Germanton with Rev. Gary Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 prior to the service at the church.
