Lawrence Ervin "L.E." Harris

Mr. Lawrence Ervin ""L.E."" Harris, 86, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Harris was born in Forsyth County on July 17, 1929, to the late Columbus Haywood Harris and Vada Walsh Harris. L.E. served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He retired from Pilot Trucking Company after many years of service. L.E. was a member of Salem Lodge #289 A.F. & A.M. of Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, L.E. was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Allen and two brothers, Glenn Harris and C.H.. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Edna Church Harris of the home; one son, Jerry Harris (Suzette) of North Wilkesboro, NC; a step-son, Steve Head (Beverly) of Raleigh, NC; two step-daughters, Renee Huff (Frank) of East Bend, NC and Rita Atwood (Carson) of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Gerald Harris of North Wilkesboro, NC; one sister, Chessie Harris Wilson of Stanleyville, NC; and numerous other loving relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Whitman officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 1075 Teague Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Harris family.
