Lawrence Henry Bowman

BOWMAN - GERMANTON
Mr. Lawrence Henry Bowman, Sr. passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 9, 1923 in Surry County to the late Carrie and Thornton Bowman. Mr. Bowman proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1952 he married and became a father figure to his wife's younger brothers and sisters. They affectionately referred to him as ""Daddy Rabbit."" Mr. Bowman was a mighty servant of God and pastored two churches. He attended Faith of God Ministries for 20 years. Mr. Bowman loved his family and was dedicated and devoted them.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by all of his siblings. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Agnes F. Bowman; two daughters, Sheila Fay Bowman (Donnie) and Debbie Kay Bevill (Norman); four sons: Roger D. Bowman (Joyce), Larry H. Bowman (Bonnie), D. Eddie Bowman (Sherri), and Mark A. Bowman (Brandi); sixteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 4 at King Christian Center with Pastors Randall Smith, Mike Martin, Jerry Goode, and Clayton Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 290 of King.
